F1b Sheepadoodle puppies
The non-shedding generation. Every puppy we raise is F1b — a sheepadoodle mama bred to a poodle dad — in standard and mini sizes, from Cookeville, Tennessee.
What "F1b" actually means
An F1 sheepadoodle is half Old English Sheepdog, half poodle — that's what all our mamas are. An F1b is an F1 sheepadoodle bred back to a poodle. The "b" is for backcross. The puppies end up 75% poodle and 25% Old English Sheepdog.
Why go to the trouble? The coat. Poodle coats don't shed; sheepdog coats mostly don't but can. At 75% poodle, the F1b is the generation where "doesn't shed" becomes reliable, puppy after puppy — which is why families with allergies end up here. You'll trade shedding for brushing and a groomer visit every couple of months.
What you don't lose is the sheepdog part that made you look at a sheepadoodle in the first place: the goofy, tolerant, "Nana from Peter Pan" temperament, the head tilt, and the black-and-white that clears to grey.
| F1 | F1b (ours) | |
